malcolm, my angelmalcolm, my little boy

Malcolm 2001-2005
My little boy, you taught me how to love.
I miss you.

He's the Fat Boy!

Meet Malcolm Pissington Wrinklestink. Malx came to us by way of The Bulldog Club of America Rescue Network in early 2003. The little we do know about him wasn't pretty. When he came into the rescue he had been living outside in the freezing cold weather (temps that winter dipped far below zero at night). It was believed that he had frost bite on a few areas. When I got in touch with a woman from the rescue organization he had recently been transported to a vet 10 minutes away from me. It was meant to be. I picked him up 3 days later without ever setting eyes on him. He requires, as do all bulldogs, a lot of care. Bulldogs often require medication for various conditions - skin, thyroid, eyes are a few examples. My work schedule allows me to be with him for much of the day - most of which he is napping.

He enjoys walks, not very long ones. See, he's not into moving very quickly. Walks can also cut into nap time - a most important time for Malx. He loves peanut butter and turkey. Turkey is an extra special treat. Tubbies (known to humans as a bath) are good; rides in the car are great! He loves to lie on clothes, blankets, and towels - anything he can find that is cushiony. He's at his happiest in front of a large sunny window or on a pile of clothes. He likes to sun himself anywhere he can get it. Malx doesn't like having his wrinkles cleaned. This poses a small problem as bulldogs have lots of wrinkles, wrinkles that if not cleaned out regularly, will stink (hence the wrinklestink).

Summer can be rough on Malx as the high temps are dangerous for him. Bulldogs coupled with humid temps can equal disaster. We make him comfy with fans, air conditioning (he has his own), lots of ice to eat and, his newest toy, a kiddy pool. Many summer days are spent hanging out in the yard (see below).

Many more bulldogs are in need of rescue. Please don't pay inflated prices at a pet shop for a dog of questionable origin, visit The Bulldog Club of America Rescue Network . Bullies are truly excellent dogs that require and deserve much understanding, much care, patience, and training. Read carefully.
