Beatle Battle, Bono's Prince of Peace tour, Floyd's New Monster
Future Is Wide Open. It’s doubtful that now-former American Idol Chris Daughtry won’t land on his feet. In fact, the offers are streaming in. After he did a better-than-original version of "Hemorrhage (In My Hands)" on the show earlier in the season, Fuel has come calling. The band has been singer-less since Brett Scallions left last year. It’s unclear as to whether an official offer has been made as the initial one was made by the band on the gossip TV show “Extra.” Take it for what it’s worth. It Dont Come Easy. The Beatles don't always come out on top. Such is the case this week when the feud between Apple Computer and The Beatles' Apple Corps came to a head in the courtroom. The judge in the case ruled in favor of Apple Computer's iTunes Music Store finding that the computer company does not infringe on a 1991 agreement made with the band's company. The court battle began with Apple Corps claiming that the creation of Apple's digital music store was in violation of that 1991 agreement, which was to keep Apple Computer out of the music business. Guess no one could see into the future. It was revealed during the trial that the Beatles' entire catalog is being digitally remastered for eventual re-release, release that includes online downloads. Though there is no release date for the project, it is promising as The Beatles have been the seemingly lone hold outs in the entrance into the digital age due in part to the dispute between the two Apples.
Exit Music. Radiohead did not perform as scheduled in Amsterdam this week due to the death of drummer Phil Selway's mother. The date will be made up in August, after the band swings through the states. Radiohead plays two Boston dates – June 4 and 5 at the Bank of America Pavilion. Solo Thom Yorke, something he calls, “Black Swan,” will appear in the new Richard Linklater film, “A Scanner Darkly.” Don’t look for it in the movie though; the song plays while the credits roll.
You’re Hired. Stone Sour picked up Roy Mayorga, formerly of Soulfly and Sepultura, as its new drummer. Roy plays on new record, “Come What(ever) May,” due Aug 22 and will join the band on the road this summer as part of the Family Values Tour.
Peace Out. Bono continues his “Prince of Peace” tour (I made that up) when he makes a return visit to Africa to continue his campaign against poverty and disease. He’ll embark on a 10-day trip next week to asses the results of his DATA organization's work firsthand and to research and gather information on what the next step in aid needs to be. According to DATA Executive Director Jamie Drummond, "We're going to look at foreign assistance working on the ground in Africa and see what is working and what is not."
Ten Year Plan. Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo will, at last, graduate from Harvard University in June. This comes almost 10 years after he began taking classes. He’ll add husband to the college grad title when he marries fiancée Kyoko Ito later in the June.
From The Horses Mouth. Slash will be clearing the air when he guests on the Camp Freddy Radio Show hosted by band mate Matt Sorum (who’s also a member of band Camp Freddy) tomorrow, Sat, May 13. He’ll answers to the growing rumors about VR, Axl Rose, and the status of Guns n’ Roses. We’re told we can expect some “juicy chunks of gossip.”
The show airs in Los Angeles on Indie 103.1 FM 6pm-8pm PST, that’s 9pm-11pm EST, online at www.indie1031.fm.All New High. Pink Floyd's monster record, “Dark Side Of The Moon,” has reached new heights. According to “Billboard,” the record has now spent an unimaginable 1,500 weeks on the sales charts. DSOTM entered the Top 200 upon its release in 1973, remaining there through July of 1988, when it finally fell off that chart. However, if you add in a later run on that chart and another 759 weeks on the Top Pop Catalog Albums chart, Dark Side has hit the 1,500 weeks mark. The album has now sold about 40 million copies worldwide and still moves about close to 9,000 copies on a slow week.
Got Tomahawk? Soon you will.

Courtney Corgan, Red Hot Thievery, Bowie over itDouble Take. Not only will the band stump for new record on Thursday's Letterman, after the shows taping wraps, the band will hang at the Ed Sullivan Theater to play a special concert to stream online at precisely 5:55pm (ET) via CBS.com. Then on Friday, the band plans a super secret club show for fans who picked up Pearl Jam during a midnight sale in the wee hours of Tuesday morning, the record's official release.
Feels Like The First Time. Courtney Love was all smiles when she pulled out a few new numbers at a Los Angeles benefit show last Saturday (April 29). Billy Corgan and Linda Perry both with whom she's currently recording performed alongside Ms. Love. Surprisingly, it's the first time Courtney and Billy have performed together. Seems they've done everything else. According to Courtney, the new stuff is, "the best shit I've done since the 'Live Through This' period." We'll be the judge of that.
Pissed Off Chili Peppers. The band is none too happy about the pirating of new disc, "Stadium Arcadium" on the innerwebs. This comes just days before the record's official release this Tuesday (May 9). In an open letter to the thieves Flea said, "For people to just steal a poor sound quality version of it for free because some a--hole stole it and put it on the Internet is sad to me." And for it to suck after going to all this trouble.

www.ticketmaster.comTogether It Makes Pink. Congrats to White Stripe Jack White on the birth of his debut offspring. Ms. White, Karen Elson, delivered a baby girl they named Scarlett this week.
Age Before Beauty. The Rolling Stones have extended an invite to Axl Rose and his version of Guns N' Roses to open two European dates in July. It's a decision the band may later regret. Axl Rose is the least punctual and The Stones need their beauty sleep.
Over It. David Bowie is over the music business and plans to avoid it for at least the next year. In fact, in a new Vanity Fair magazine interview Bowie is quoted as saying he's "fed up" with the music industry and plans to take a year off -- "no touring, no albums." Said plan leaves lots of time for daily strolls around New York City with a stop at the local video store where he can stock up on his Woody Allen movies, an apparent fave in the Bowie home as he claims to have watched three in a row one day.
Metal Across America. Anthrax will join Rob Zombie for the "American Witch Across America" tour dropping into a shed this summer. Tour dates are still being mapped out.
Road Ready. Alice in Chains' whirlwind club tour will feature Shooter Jennings, son of Waylon, opening a slew of dates. Shooter is scheduled for at least the first two dates - May 18 at the Roxy in West Hollywood and May 19 at the House of Blues in San Diego. The band, with Comes With The Fall singer William DuVall handling main vocal duties (surprise guests vocalists are also expected in each city), will also appear at this year's inaugural Rock'N the Rally concert at the Sturgis, South Dakota Motorcycle Rally in August with Aerosmith, Cheap Trick and others.
