Happy Birthday, T!
Sorry, my site has been fucked up for a while. If you are even reading this that means I've managed to do something right. Just got the book, Heroin Diaries, can't put it down. Nikki is one nasty bastard but I love him. I can relate to the story, some of it. Not the lock-myself-in-the-closet-with-a-shot-gun-high-on-coke parts but others, yes. I stayed up most of the night reading. Almost done.

March 21, 2007 - Happy Spring! I have certainly been busy. Things are well with me but I'm seriously all set with winter. The dogs aren't helping matters with their lack of cooperation in the going-out-and-doing-their-business department. I happily still at WZLX - thought full-time radio prospects pop up, I'm enjoying my new found fame as a stylist. Updates coming in that area too. Stand by.
I'm continue to work on booking and co-hosting On the Town with Mikey Dee on WMFO at Tufts. It's a good time and I get to play all the local music I can fit in three hours. Live bands too.
I got this in my email today. It's just the shit.
Genius.
Dec 28, 2006 - Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Been a while since I "mused". It has been a great year. I've been very busy with radio - both WZLX and WMFO - and the salon. I really enjoy doing both though I find that I can't be everywhere all the time. Strange how that works, ah? The Social continues to be a great time, lots of new people and bands continue to discover it. The boys are awesome, Peeg is great, new house is fantastic. Wow, it has been a great year.
My hope for the new year is to be able to put some time back into writing. The Rock Dirt will return in the new year. That I am sure of! I wish you peace and love.
Sept 14, 2006 - Have been at WZLX a lot this summer. I love it, especially when the full-time DJs go on vacation! Filling in for The Night Rocker, Kenny Young this week (He's in for the world-famous Carter Alan). Hear me the rest of the week, 7-midnight.
I get a lot of calls, snail mail and email so thank you. You are all very kind.
MY NIGHT WITH ROGER WATERSAfter I wrapped my WZLX broadcast from the Tweeter Center on Saturday (9/9) - which was an absolutely great time! - I made my way backstage with my crew pass. I just hung back waiting for te show to start. A crew member, a lovely British gentleman, and I started to chat each other up a bit and with that he set me up sweet spot side stage during the show.
I sit there, amazed at how great it is, but having to go pee so badly it hurt, I find my Brit crew guy who guides me to the backstage bathroom. Knowing I'm crazy to give up this primo seating, I knew I would have surely died holding in all water and beer I drank during the afternoon. Mostly water. I watch from backstage back to side stage, find my way around as the band is playing, back to the same exact spot. No one is concerned, no questioning. After an amazing hour-plus of the show, some girls show up and sit behind me. Shortly thereafter, some familiar looking security or venue guy (have seen him at other shows) asks me who I'm with and tells me my crew pass doesn't allow me to sit where I am. I'm cool, don't act like an ass and quietly move on.
The entire time he saying this I'm thinking, "Hey, I just got an hour and a half of Roger Waters from side stage!" Joke's on you."
It was amazing. And very clear to me the only reason I was questioned at all was for the girls bitching.
Aerosmith and Motley Crue at the Tweeter, Thurs, Sept 28! See you there!

This month's Rock and Roll Social at new location, the Model in Allston, was f*cking great! Many new and familiar faces. Some I didn't get to talk to since I get there a little later. See you in October!
Sept 2, 2006 - Hello all. Have been spending a lot of time at 'ZLX. And I love it. Moved into my new place finally. It's good to be home. Gussy and Pudgie Willis are doing great. Now it's to unpacking!

March 22, 06...Hello. Just dropping in. Check new The Rock Dirt pages. I've been archiving them all. You can also befriend the Dirt on MySpace.
New season of the Sopranos has begun. It's a good'in too. With Tony down for the count, what will become of the family? And A.J. Anyone else think he's going to join the dark side? The Daily Show couldn't be funnier, could it?
So, yes, I've been keeping my tivo busy.
New music. Eh, not a lot that's inspiring me right now. Panic! at the Disco is cool. And...um...
March 1, 06: Hola, all. My posts here are few and far between. I'm busy doing radio, writing, styling and living life. (as posted previously, I'm doing hair and loving it). I'm having a great time on WZLX. I really like the people there (Carter, Jay, Kenny, Chuck, Bill to name a few) and, of course, I'm digging the rock! I get to play Pink Floyd, Thin Lizzy, Heart, Bowie. Not a bad gig.
Gussy and Pudgie Willis are doing excellently (I do tend to make words up). They've acclimated to the new surroundings and we're working with them on training. Gussy's a grabby face and tries to eat everything but with patience and love, he'll come around. Thankfully, they are in very good health. Pudgie has dry eye but out vet put us in touch with a pharmacist that makes compound drugs so we are treating him and his eye is in good shape.
I do hear from old FNX listeners from Boston, Providence and Portsmouth and, on occasion, get asked about my time there. It's been so long it's like I was never there. All told I had a good run. I believed in what I was doing. The end wasn't so good. We just didn't get along.Rock and Roll Social happens the second Tues of every month at the Z Wine Bar, Beacon St, Somerville. Come by!
On The Town in on Weds at 9. Listen in. Local rock still rules!
Paulie's cool. Check out Adventures in Tourism.

Das Happening

Jan 3, 2006 - Happy New Year, everybody! Always an understatement but it has been one hell of a year.
At the beginning, almost simultaneously, I got laid off from a miserable job and moved into my awesome new house. The first part would have seemed like a terrible thing but the reality is that I wanted out but was waiting to see what changes would take place in the new year. From the moment I walked into the big boss's office, I had a smile I couldn't hide. My decision was made. I wouldn't have to quit. I'd long grown tired of the situation. and after nearly 7 years, was free to go and not have to try to get through another show. Honestly, if the morning show had been handled differently I may have lasted longer. It was a stressful place, lots of arguing, lots of unhappiness, lots of immaturity. The best thing that came from that year is that I met and worked with my now-friend Jeanmarie. Our departure forced the remnants to have to do actual work and allowed for more moronic behavior, only this time to be directed toward the poor interns. It's best described as sub-par. You get what you pay for I guess. I am grateful for most of my years there. I was proud to be there, I learned a lot about what to do and what not to do. Time well spent, all except that last 10 months.
In the months since, I've focused on writing. It's something I've wanted to do since getting involved in radio. I started writing for a local publication called 168 magazine. The magazine has gone through a transition itself after separating from its parent company the Nashua Telegraph. New magazine "The Fix" launches this week. My column "The Rock Dirt" will continue to be published in print and online as well on this site.
Other news: I took the opportunity to study cosmetology this year and am really happy I did. I love doing hair . It's a lucrative business and I look forward to reaping the rewards of saying "fuck it" and going back to school.Another major accomplishment this year is that I joined the air staff at WZLX. It's a well-respected station and a great place to work. I'm treated well and the atmosphere has been nothing but supportive. It took some getting used! I hadn't yet pulled all the knives from my back from the other place. Working with adults is excellent.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, I lost Malcolm. It was hard as hell. We did bring home two boys - Gus and Pudgie. They rule. Pics to come.
Happy New Year. Follow your dreams. It's worth it.
Dec 12, 2005 - Finally warmed my new home despite the fact that we've been here for a year! Thanks to all who helped celebrate.
Nov 18, 2005 - I'm playing hooky today. Thought it would be cool to hang out with the dogs. The dogs. Oh yes. A lot has gone on since my last posting. Sadly, we lost Malcolm. I don't want to (and can't bare to) get into the details here but it has been a draining number of weeks. Losing him was one of the most painful things I've experienced in my life. I think of him every day. It's also a very private matter. I have not spoken about it publicly. Thank you for understanding.
On a brighter note, Paul and me adopted two boys - Augustus or "Gus" the bulldog and Pudgie Willis the Pug. The Pudgie part is his given name, the Willis part is that we think he looks like Willis Jackson from the show "Diff'rent Strokes." Both names have stuck! We found them at a shelter outside Albany, NY via petfinder.com and went to meet them in mid-October. A week later we drove to get them. We're grateful for the opportunity to have them here with us. We needed them as much as they needed us. It's helped in dealing with our loss. We are honored to have been chosen over some 100 or so people who inquired about them.Rock and Roll Social's celebrating the holiday season. Keep an eye out for what's coming! It's gonna be really good!
Oct 18, 2005 - Spoke to Audioslave drummer Brad Wilk yesterday for this week's 168 cover story. I didn't think it was possible for anyone to be nicer after my interview with Chris Cornell and Tom Morello on the band's inaugural tour in 2003. It's official - the Audioslave guys are the coolest guys in rock and roll. Audioslave comes to the Tsongas Arena in Lowell on Halloween.
Boo.
October 2005: So, I accidentally deleted the original musings page. Let's begin again. Next Rising Tide show is Sat, Nov 12 at the Lizard Lounge
