Cambridge, Mass – What better way to ring in two annual events: summer solstice and the anniversary of WMFO “On The Town” host Anngelle Wood’s 24th birthday (which, by the way, actually falls on the second day of summer, a Wednesday this year)? Sounds like a great reason for a rock show.
Always one for bringing together an amalgamation of acts, this show is no different. Some of Anngelle’s favorites celebrate the sounds of summer Saturday, June 25 at the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge; four distinctly different bands come together for this year’s event.
This year’s festivities include Robby Roadsteamer - one part comedic genius, one part god of thunder - as he drags out those Axl Rose-inspired snake skin pants one more time before embarking on a summer jaunt aboard the Van’s Warped Tour.A true songsmith and self-proclaimed World’s Best Ex-Boyfriend, Ad Frank manages to evoke both early Ric Ocasek and recent Nick Cave. Current band, The Fast Easy Women, features former and current members of Tracy Bonham, Helicopter Helicopter and Garvy J., who blend glam-new wave-cabaret into sounds of summer.
Adventures in Tourism is best described as Cheap Trick meets the Cars circa 1979 FM Radio in the parking lot of a Replacements show.
Auto Interiors’ style has evolved from shoegazing psycho-pop into more primitive rock rhythms and pop hooks giving way to influences ranging from the Kinks to My Bloody Valentine to Blur.
